RCDD

We are pleased to announce a prestige international qualification, Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), organised by US Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) for structured cabling system design is available in Hong Kong
.

Established in 1984, RCDDs demonstrate knowledge in the design, integration and implementation of information & communications technology (ICT) and related infrastructure components.

BICSI telecommunications distribution design courses serve as a career path for those seeking advanced knowledge in cabling design and critical infrastructure. The RCDD status conveys instant advantages over the competition:

  • A professional designation of excellence
  • A highly regarded status recognized and mandated by many private and state organizations
  • A noted mark of design knowledge valued internationally
  • An indication of experience and knowledge known throughout the ITS industry

Did you know that the RCDD is a Department of Defense (US) requirement?

Page 4 of the Department of Defense UFC lists the RCDD as a requirement for all telecom design projects. View the UFC here.

Requirements and Qualification

To sit for the RCDD exam, you must have at least one of the following:

  • Five years ICT (Information & Communications Technology) design experience
  • Two years verifiable ICT design experience and three years additional ICT equivalents chosen from combinations of experience, approved education and approved ITS license/certification (i.e. NTS, WD, CCNA)

    Plus

  • Three to Four reference (previous experience / design work performed)

Design includes the development of design plans for ITS integration. This includes site surveys, user needs analysis, work print creation, project specifications, RFP creation and pre-project coordination with PEs, architects, AHJs, etc.

Design does NOT include installation, testing, project/site supervision, project QA, ITS sales or sales support, teaching of ITS subject matter, etc. Although these items are important to the success of a project, they do not qualify under the definition of design.

The RCDD qualifcation is based on a 5-day DD102 core program and a training manual - TDMM 13th edition:

(1) DD102: Designing Telecommunications Distribution Systems
(2) Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual, 13th edition (TDMM)

Target Audience

The qualification is targeted to those looking to demonstrate the highest levels of knowledge regarding network infrastructures and cabling design. Suitable for designers, installers, IT managers, consultants, building specifiers and architects.
